Welding Engineer
Job Description
- Create job aids and work instructions
- Complete Part & Process SPAP/PPAP
- Create and maintain Routings / BOMS
- Process Engineering Changes
- Create and maintain Control Plans / PFMEA / SFMEA
- LN system use and training to users
- Validate/support all quality gate audits
- Lead safety investigations and perform 1Page DMAIC process
- Implement various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Internal Certification, etc.
- Drives Root Cause identification and Continuous Improvement process
- Evaluate weld qualification samples per the applicable standard (AWS D1.1, AWS D15.1, CAT 1E specs)
- Create PQR’s, WPS’s, and WQTR’s
Qualifications:
- 2-year technical degree or equivalent manufacturing experience (4-year degree desired)
- 4-5 years of welding experience
- Strong knowledge of PC/data entry
- Intermediate level skills of Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint)
- Ability to comfortably present to team members and other area leaders
- Working understanding of welding processes and technology
- Ability to interpret welding symbols and terminology on fabrication drawings
- Working understanding of welding repair methods, weld testing methods, and welding documentation practices
