Utilities Calibration and Repair Technician
Job Description
Location: North Chicago, IL
- Calibrate, monitor, and repair measurement instruments for temperature, pressure, flow, and other critical parameters on utility systems, including boilers, chillers, pumps, compressors, valves, and heat exchangers.
- Perform preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting on utility equipment and associated instrumentation to ensure uninterrupted support to manufacturing operations.
- Monitor system performance via BMS/SCADA, log data, and escalate abnormal conditions.
- Respond promptly to utility alarms and emergencies to minimize downtime and support production schedules.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with GMP, FDA, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of calibration, maintenance activities, and system performance.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or associate degree in facility utilities systems preferred.
- 3+ years of experience operating, maintaining, or calibrating utility systems and process instruments (boilers, chillers, pumps, compressors, valves) in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Knowledge of GMP standards and experience in a regulated industry (pharma, biotech, or food manufacturing) preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, equipment manuals, and SOPs.
- Familiarity with boilers, chillers, pumps, valves, compressors, heat exchangers, and measurement instruments for temperature, pressure, and flow.
- Strong troubleshooting and hands-on technical skills for calibration, maintenance, and repair of utility instruments.
