Sterling Engineering is looking for a Maintenance Technician on the 1st or 2nd Shift in Oak Brook, IL. This opportunity offers a chance to join a high-performing manufacturing team maintaining and optimizing production equipment. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing changeovers, overhauls, corrective repair work, and fabricating parts to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operations.
Job Duties:
- Perform preventive maintenance checks during shift and take appropriate corrective action.
- Review established production schedules at the start of each shift to determine production run, change-over needs, and scheduled maintenance.
- Readjust lines and change over assigned equipment for product, material, size, and pack pattern; run first piece of production and verify conformance to quality standards.
- Monitor equipment for unsafe conditions and recommend or implement corrective actions for equipment malfunctions.
- Record production delays and maintain required downtime records.
- Fabricate non-commercially available repair parts.
Qualifications:
- 3–4 years of experience in a production maintenance mechanic role within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency or trade-related schooling in fields such as welding, machine shop, industrial electricity, introductory drafting, PLC, pipe fitting, or diversified applied trade experience (preferably in food, pharmaceutical, or consumer goods manufacturing).
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools (hammer, screwdriver, wrench, drills, grinders, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret machinery and electrical blueprints/schematics and follow maintenance manual instructions.
- Good interpersonal skills required to interact with internal customers.
