Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Location:Chicago, IL
Pay: 26-35/hr. Based on experience
Hire Type: Contract to Hire
Hours:
  • 1st Shift:  6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Advanced Level)
  • 2nd Shift 3:30PM -1AM ( Intermediate Level)
Sterling Engineering is partnering with a leader in power grid innovation, to find a Maintenance Technician passionate about making a real-world impact.

Job Duties:
  • Read and interpret layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, and project documentation
  • Perform fabrication, installation, and assembly of equipment, piping, and racking systems
  • Conduct rigging and movement of equipment (manual and forklift operation)
  • Execute MIG and TIG welding tasks with proper setup of fixtures and gases
  • Use hand and power tools to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues
  • Assist with plant layout changes and support facilities engineering projects
  • Exercise independent judgment on task execution, job safety, and construction quality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on various construction and maintenance initiatives
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance or facilities technician experience
  • Strong proficiency in MIG and TIG welding
  • Ability to read mechanical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and perform shop math
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and repairing a variety of mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with hand tools, gauges, and power equipment
  • Experience with rigging, fabrication, piping systems, and anchoring equipment
  • Forklift experience preferred
