Shift: Rotating 12-hour shift(6AM-6PM)
Hire Type: Contract to Hire
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for installing and maintaining production, ancillary, and plant equipment in safe operating condition. This includes performing general maintenance and preventative/predictive maintenance on a variety of molding, auxiliary, and plant support equipment. The role requires strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills to minimize downtime, support production, and optimize equipment performance.
- Perform maintenance on all plant equipment, including molding and auxiliary systems, with a high degree of skill.
- Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration, drying, conveying, pumps, pneumatic circuits, and welding/fabrication systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and identify symbols and control circuits.
- Troubleshoot electrical circuits and install PLCs, motors, relays, starters, and control systems.
- Read and interpret hydraulic schematics and troubleshoot hydraulic circuits.
- Repair or upgrade equipment as needed, ensuring safety guards are in place.
- Use a variety of hand, hydraulic, and pneumatic tools safely and effectively.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance (PM) activities on all production and plant equipment.
- Install production and auxiliary equipment following plant standards and ordinances.
- Assist with equipment changeovers and maintain equipment manuals.
- Weld and cut steel or aluminum parts as required for repairs or installations.
- Stay current with new maintenance technologies and methods.
- Perform corrective and preventive actions, ensuring follow-up for effectiveness.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational education preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a maintenance mechanic role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Proven troubleshooting skills in automated and manual systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Basic math and computer skills required.
- Ability to train others and assist in equipment installations or upgrades.
- Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and safety-focused.
