Job Summary: 
We are seeking a Technical Lead – Gas Distribution Engineer with 3 to 6 years of engineering experience to join our growing remote team. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, proactive, and capable of balancing a high volume of small-scale projects. This role involves both technical leadership and mentorship responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who is looking to grow into a strategic role while still being engaged in day-to-day project execution.

Job Duties:
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and drafters in gas distribution design projects.
  • Manage a high volume of small projects with a strong focus on quality and deadlines.
  • Communicate proactively across disciplines and with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Perform hands-on design using AutoCAD, adhering to established drafting standards.
  • Interpret and apply civil plans, existing and proposed utility layouts, and land rights.
  • Ensure compliance with project-specific and jurisdictional design plan requirements.
  • Collaborate on innovative design solutions, especially in RNG, biogas, and hydrogen systems.
  • Utilize and understand Sidwell maps for property and easement data integration.
Qualifications:
  • Required Qualifications:
    • Engineering degree from an accredited institution; PE eligibility required.
    • 3–6 years of relevant engineering experience.
    • Familiarity with natural gas distribution design is essential.
    • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, including practical design application and standard etiquette.
    • Understanding of Sidwell maps, land rights, and civil plan interpretation.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience working with Nicor Gas and/or North Shore Gas (NSG) standards.
    • Exposure to RNG, biogas, and/or hydrogen gas infrastructure design.
    • Prior experience in a technical leadership or team mentoring role.
