Job Summary:
Responsible for sourcing and procuring production materials, indirect goods/services, and fixed assets within a manufacturing environment.  Will manage purchasing for manufacturing components including structural steel, building materials, electrical parts, outside services, and logistics.
 
Job Duties:
  • Issues and updates purchase orders; ensures on-time delivery and sample approvals; coordinates with departments to meet sourcing timelines.
  • Obtains and evaluates quotes; negotiates pricing and terms; recommends suppliers based on cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Manages budgets, tracks expenses, and identifies cost-saving opportunities.
  • Researches market trends and process improvements; advises Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager on findings.
  • Meets with suppliers to assess capabilities, logistics, and inventory practices; negotiates pricing and terms.
  • Coordinates quality issues and engineering changes with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Conducts supplier visits to qualify new sources and resolve production, quality, or delivery issues.
  • Maintains all required documentation and records.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • 3+ years of supply chain experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
  • Ability to reach mechanical blueprints or CAD drawings is necessary.
  • Experienced in interpreting Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • ERP knowledge (Dynamics 365 Business Central, or a related ERP system).
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • APP, CPM, or CPIM certification a plus.
