Job Description

Title: Substation Manager
Location: Anywhere in the United States close to an office location

 This includes leading business development efforts, proposal development, process development, technical distribution project execution and client management. Ultimately this role ensures that project requirements are met or exceeded during the execution of projects.

Key Responsibilities:
· Possess and maintain broad and in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and standards related to utility power distribution, transmission, substation systems, specific expertise for substation.
· Design of substation and switching stations
· Physical Design – engineering and design of equipment, structures, ductbanks, grounding, lighting, static protection, relay houses
· P&C Design – engineering and design of protection and control systems, one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, wiring and connection diagrams, relay schemes, communication systems.
· Equipment Replacement – engineering and design associated with replacement programs.
· New Builds – greenfield project design
· Develop concept design alternatives, engineering calculations, analysis, and engineering estimates for major capital upgrade projects for substations.
· Perform site surveys for major upgrade projects, develop concept design, and present the design to management and the client.
· Assist and prepare complete cost estimates for large-scale substation projects.
· Keep up to date with utility industry standards and codes. Enforce and maintain all applicable standards and codes for O&M, replacement/renewal and new installations.
· Maintain in-depth knowledge of power system protection and relaying schemes for substations.
· Develop/review complex electrical system models and validate various system study findings/recommendations.
· Develop electrical specifications for major electrical apparatus.
· Schedule and attend field walk-downs with customer, subcontractor and construction personnel.
· Perform field take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparation.
· Compare various project documents for accuracy and consistency.
· Participate in estimate review process with internal and external stake holders.
· Coordinate and review the work of up to 5 engineers and designers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum or equivalent and 10 years of related working experience.
· Project experience with electrical transmission line project design for major utility companies.
