Description
As the Engineering Manager for Electrical Substations, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the design, engineering, and implementation of high-voltage electrical substations. You will lead a team of skilled engineers and technical specialists, ensuring the successful delivery of projects from conception to completion while adhering to quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including project management, procurement, and operations, to drive efficiency and innovation in our substation engineering processes.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Coordinate and review the work of up to 5 engineers and designers.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Provide strong leadership and mentorship to a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and technical specialists.
· Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the engineering department.
· Set clear goals and expectations for team members and provide regular feedback and performance evaluations.
Project Management:
· Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of electrical substation projects, ensuring adherence to budget, timeline, and quality standards.
· Collaborate with project managers to develop project plans, resource allocations, and risk management strategies.
· Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or delays, and implement corrective actions as necessary to keep projects on track.
Engineering Design and Technical Expertise:
· Lead the design and engineering of high-voltage electrical substations, including layout, equipment specification, protection and control systems, and grounding design.
· Review technical drawings, specifications, and calculations to ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and customer requirements.
· Provide technical guidance and support to resolve complex engineering challenges and optimize substation designs for efficiency and reliability.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
· Liaise with clients, regulatory authorities, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure alignment of project objectives and requirements.
· Participate in client meetings, presentations, and negotiations to address technical inquiries, scope changes, and project updates.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate substation designs with overall infrastructure plans and operational strategies.

Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
· Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on substation design and project management.
· Proven track record of successfully leading engineering teams and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
· In-depth knowledge of electrical substation design principles, equipment, and technologies, including familiarity with industry standards such as IEEE, ANSI, and IEC.
· Strong analytical skills and ability to solve technical problems independently.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
· Prior business experience in working with utilities as a consulting engineer is preferred.
