Structural Engineer
Job Description
- Develop comprehensive structural engineering plans, details, and calculations for substation projects, adhering to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Design concrete foundations and steel structures, including standard shapes and tapered tubular sections.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of NESC transmission loads and loading combinations.
- Apply advanced knowledge of substation general arrangements and components.
- Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering principles and practices.
- Oversee multiple projects, ensuring quality and adherence to standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project teams on assigned portfolios.
- Develop work plans and manage discipline team members.
- Act as the Engineer of Record for substation projects.
- Provide cross-functional support to the PV/BESS team on solar and storage projects.
- Mentor and guide less experienced team members.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- Professional Engineering Licensure (PE) highly preferred; SE licensure is a plus.
- 4+ years of experience in substation structural engineering design.
- Proficiency in software tools like RISA 2D/3D/Foundation, Enercalc, L-PILE, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ASCE 113, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360/341, IBC, NDS).
- Ability to interpret site studies, geotechnical reports, and engineering drawings.
- In-depth understanding of steel structures, drilled piers, and shallow foundations.
