Title: Staff Electrical Engineering Technician - Advanced Power Generation

Location: Onsite at Overland Park, Ann Arbor, Houston, Phoenix, Raleigh, Chattanooga, Chicago, Jacksonville, or Gaithersburg

Hire Type: Contract

Shift/Hours: Standard business hours (or as required by project needs) 

Compensation: $35 - $43/hour BOE

About the Opportunity

 An organization is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineering Technician - Advanced Power Generation (APG) to support Advanced Power Generation (APG) projects and build critical infrastructure within the Power Providers Market Sector. This role focuses on creating high-quality engineering 2D/3D deliverables and electrical design drawings (including duct bank, cable tray, grounding, and lighting designs) using Bentley MicroStation, other Bentley tools, and AGI32 while collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams and Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) staff to deliver accurate and high-quality project deliverables.  


Job Duties 

• Supports engineering and design teams under general direction by developing and modifying 2D/3D technical deliverables using CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling tools. 

• Performs design calculations, detailed material quantity takeoffs, estimates, and technical documentation following applicable codes, standards, and departmental procedures. 

• Coordinates across design disciplines to exchange project information, offers technical guidance to other technicians, and ensures deliverable quality and consistency. 

• Creates electrical design drawings including duct bank, cable tray, grounding, and lighting designs using Bentley MicroStation and AGI32.

• Collaborates with multidisciplinary project teams and Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) staff to complete project tasks.  


Qualifications 

• 5+ years of related work experience in the power generation design industry. 

• Diploma or Certificate required (Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Related Technology preferred). 

• Coursework in Drafting or Engineering Design Related Technology. 

• Job experience in 3D modeling of equipment, duct bank design, cable tray design, grounding, and lighting systems. 

• Proficiency with 3D software; Bentley MicroStation experience preferred.

• Experience with AGI32 preferred for illumination calculations.

• Strong problem-solving ability for moderately complex designs. 

• Solid communication, cross-functional coordination, continuous learning mindset, and technical peer-guidance skills.
