Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer
Job Description
- Conduct Production Parts Approval Process (PPAP) and define submission requests
- Investigate and resolve supplier non-conformances using structured problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why)
- Collaborate with sourcing, engineering, and operations to develop supplier capability
- Conduct supplier audits and coach suppliers on corrective actions and continuous improvement
- Monitor and report supplier performance metrics
- Support cost recovery and supplier development initiatives
- Lead cross-functional teams in supplier crisis management
- Evaluate supplier risk and drive systemic improvements
Qualifications:
- Engineering degree (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical) or equivalent training and experience
- 6–10 years + CQE or Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or equivalent QMS standards
- Knowledge of quality tools: 8D, APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, CAPA
- ERP system familiarity
- Ability to travel up to 50%
- MS in engineering or MBA
- Knowledge of locomotive, background in heavy manufacturing
- Background in automotive quality principles (APQP, AIAG, etc.)
- Knowledge of six sigma, lean manufacturing and corrective action planning; Six sigma black belt a plus
- Knowledge of ERP, metrology, statistical measurement capability
- Six Sigma Black Belt
- Lean manufacturing & APQP experience
- Metrology and statistical analysis skills
- Bilingual communication skills
