Expectations for a Senior Mechanical Engineer are:

  • Execute projects in all areas of mechanical engineering including conceptual design to installation engineering services, estimating, equipment specification, detailed design, equipment inspection, field installation, and start-ups inclusive of client interaction.

  • Specify equipment such as vessels, exchangers, pumps, and other process equipment.

  • Develop alternatives to a project that brings value to the client.

  • Perform process flow diagram mapping.

  • Perform stress and/or flex analyses using software such as Caesar or Fathom.

  • Comply with all applicable standards and industry codes.

  • Lead a mechanical project team in the planning, scheduling, engineering, and design execution of the projects from start to finish.

  • Determine the mechanical scope for projects, manage schedules, budgets, maintain changes and effectively communicate changes to the team.

  • Interact with the client; attend client meetings and internal team meetings.

  • Mentor Junior Engineers



Required Qualifications:


  • BSME with a minimum of 10 years’ experience needed in the oil refinery, power plant and/or steel manufacturing industries required. IN/IL PE Licenses needed, PE License in another state is acceptable as well. Master of Engineering is another advantage.

  • Knowledge of ASME codes

  • Background in HVAC, heat exchangers, steam generation, equipment specifications and pipe routing is key.

  • Ability to work in the field.

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Must be detail orientated.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate with other team members and prepare reports.
