Job Description
Our client is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our Electrical Hardware Design team. The ideal candidate will possess experience in electrical design, with a strong focus on innovation, quality and project management. Your role will involve:
• Leading the design & development of electrical control panels and automated control systems.
• Participating in regular internal & external meetings to determine project scope, requirements,
deliverables, costing and schedules.
• Developing the equipment motor lists (e.g. room designation, loading, single line diagrams, VFD sizing, detailed electrical calculations, etc.) and device lists in collaboration with mechanical team.
• Researching and analyzing requirements and technical specifications to satisfy end-user
requirements.
• Overseeing design documents, schematics, and process control diagrams to ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC).
• Mentoring, reviewing and delegating work to designers and interns.
• Participating in project planning and management, including scheduling and budgeting, through the complete life cycle from concept to commissioning.
This position is based out of our head office in Burlington with a requirement for occasional international travel.
Requirements:
• An Engineering or related Degree with 10+ years of experience designing electrical systems,
drive panels & control panels. A P.Eng. license is an asset.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel
• Experience with EPLAN (version 2.0 or above) or AutoCAD is an asset
• Knowledge of Electrical Codes - NFPA79, NEC, CEC, CSA and IEC/EN as well as Panel Design
Standard UL508A
• Knowledge of machine safety design is an asset.
• Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and innovative problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Motivated and effective team player
• Ability to effectively manage a diverse workload and meet deadlines under changing conditions
