Location: Aurora, IL
Hire Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $90K-100K/YR.
Travel: ~25% (Nationally and Internationally)
Sterling Engineering is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. This opportunity is with a global leader in digital signage technology, known for transforming public and commercial spaces through high-performance visual display solutions. Their products are engineered to withstand the most demanding environments—powered by cutting-edge electromechanical design, thermal management systems, and seamless digital integration.
Job Duties:
- Develop and test new products applying engineering knowledge; complete engineering projects by evaluating, organizing, executing and controlling all elements.
- Lead high-level projects and manage key personnel in support of upper managers and directors.
- Prepare quotes and cost estimates for development time and part costs.
- Work with sheet metal, castings, extrusions, plastic molding, tubing, and complex assemblies.
- Lead customer high-level calls and mentor/train team members.
- Interpret design plans, engineering drawings and product specifications to execute objectives.
- Solve technical problems and redesign products for robustness and cost reduction.
- Conduct and define testing methods (DATP), FEA and CFD analyses to validate designs.
- Research emerging technologies to improve mechanical and electromechanical systems.
- Ensure designs meet standards (UL, ADA, ISO 9001/14000) and best practices for manufacturability, inspection, assembly, testing and installation.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 3-8 years of broad-based manufacturing and engineering experience.
- Experience quoting and cost estimating.
- Experience leading projects and high-level customer calls.
- Electronic and electro-mechanical design experience preferred.
- Effective communication and writing skills.
- SolidWorks 2020 and 3D modeling software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Proven design engineering ability.
