About the Opportunity: Sterling Engineering's client, a leader in the advanced nuclear energy sector, is looking for a Nuclear Quality Assurance Software Specialist to join their Enterprise Software Team. This is a stable organization at the forefront of the energy transition, offering a high-impact role supporting the development and implementation of regulatory compliant plans and procedures within a sophisticated NQA-1 quality framework.

Job Duties:
  • Lead and manage the adequacy and efficiency evaluation of existing software programmatic infrastructure against NQA-1 2008/2009a and 2022 quality frameworks.
  • Continuously analyze and update software plans, procedures, and work instructions required for design, analysis engineering, and code development.
  • Organize and balance complex project workflows involving simultaneous compliance for procurement and document control under nuclear quality standards.
  • Identify and resolve programmatic gaps to ensure all relevant procedures meet the evolving requirements of NQA-1 2022.
  • Minimize compliance risk by preparing highly accurate plans and desktop instructions in accordance with applicable IEEE standards.
  • Motivate, train, and mentor other departments by providing expert guidance on meeting applicable software regulations and safety culture standards.
  • Ensure the consistent production of regulatory-compliant documentation that meets 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and 10 CFR 21 requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to support software programmatic infrastructure and facilitate cross-functional technical solutions.
  • Drive and implement continuous improvement initiatives for digital processes and project management tools within the software series.
  • Prepare regular reports and technical documentation regarding software programmatic infrastructure status for senior management and regulatory review.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (preferred), or a related technical field; 10+ years of direct experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the development and implementation of nuclear quality assurance programs.
  • Proven ability to manage complex document creation and maintenance in accordance with ASME NQA-1 and IEEE 7-4.3.2.
  • Strong understanding of US NRC Regulatory Guides (1.168 through 1.173) and 10 CFR Part 810 regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and technical writing skills, with the ability to interpret complex written information and regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example, fostering a strong nuclear safety culture and building trust-based interpersonal networks within the organization.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience in code development under a quality program and ASME BPVC Section III programs considered a major plus.
