As the Shop Manager, you will directly oversee the shop employees, their training, and lead their daily activities to ensure timely order completion. The role will also be responsible for leading the shop employees on various continuous improvement initiatives planned by the Operations Manager. 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all safety and health standards are met to keep the organization accident free 
  • Ensure all UL508A, 698A, CE, and NFPA79 (NEC Code) requirements are being met to maintain our certifications 
  • Ensure production is running smoothly 
  • Schedule production resources to ensure all panels are being shipped on time 
  • Establishing a balance between increased productivity and reduced cost of manufacturing operations, oversee the production process 
  • Develop workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality 
  • Run the weekly production meeting 
  • Log hours in the production schedule 
  • Assist with quoting 
  • Checking inventory and placing orders for materials 
  • When necessary, pull components based on pick tickets 
  • Work in concert with the assistant production manager/quality control manager 
 
Qualifications:
  • Directly supervises employees in the Shop department(s). 
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.  
  • Mechanical aptitude  
  • Willingness to learn and become an expert at electric motor repair.  
  • High level of problem-solving skills and thinking outside the box.  
  • Ability to set clear priorities and juggle competing priorities.  
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills with various levels of employees.  
  • Excellent people skills and able to communicate and motivate employees. 
  • Working knowledge of lean, six sigma, and world class manufacturing principles strongly preferred.  
  • Previous supervisor experience required.  
  • Associate degree required, bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering or related field.
