Title: Sr Engineering Technician - Advanced Power Generation (APG)  

Location: Onsite at Overland Park, Ann Arbor, Houston, Phoenix, Raleigh, Chattanooga, Chicago, Jacksonville, or Gaithersburg

Hire Type: Contract

Compensation: $45- $56/hour

Must have Skill Set: Power generation design industry experience, 3D modeling of equipment, duct bank design, cable tray design, grounding, lighting systems, and 3D modeling software experience (Bentley MicroStation preferred).  


Overview:

An organization is seeking a Sr Engineering Technician - Advanced Power Generation (APG) to support Advanced Power Generation (APG) projects and build critical infrastructure within the Power Providers Market Sector. This role focuses on creating high-quality engineering 2D/3D deliverables and electrical design drawings (including duct bank, cable tray, grounding, and lighting designs) using Bentley MicroStation, other Bentley tools, and AGI32 while collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams and Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) staff to deliver accurate and high-quality project deliverables.  


Job Duties:
  • Applies advanced technical expertise to create, modify, and maintain complex 2D/3D technical drawings and documentation, perform design calculations, and manage material quantity takeoffs.  

  • Establishes design and graphic standards, ensuring deliverables comply with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.  

  • Provides consultation, training, oversight, and quality reviews for other engineering technicians while coordinating across design groups to keep projects on schedule and within budget.  


Qualifications:
  • Education: Diploma or Certificate required; Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Related Technology required (Bachelor's Degree preferred).  

  • Years of Experience: 11+ years of related work experience.  

  • Job Experience Requirements: Power generation design industry experience, background in 3D modeling of equipment, duct bank design, cable tray design, grounding, and lighting systems.  

  • Software Experience: Any 3D modelling software; Bentley MicroStation preferred. AGI32 experience preferred for illumination calculations.  

  • Soft Skills: Technical consultation and oversight capabilities, strong cross-departmental coordination, sound judgment and problem-solving, and effective communication.
