Title: Reliability Test Technologist
 

Location: Chicago, IL 60626 

 Must have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with temperature/humidity test chambers, and with Accelerated Step-Stress Test (HALT)chambers 


Job Summary:
  • Operate, coordinate, and maintain a multi-test chamber reliability test laboratory.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and report to the Manager-Reliability and Test Engineering.
  • Perform reliability tests and design verification tests to simulate field conditions and identify potential malfunctions.
  • Work with environmental test chambers for Accelerated Life Tests, HASS/HASA tests, and "HALT" chambers for Highly Accelerated Step-Stress Tests.
  • Identify design weaknesses in digital logic, analog electronics, and electro-mechanical components.
  • Support Project Engineers, Design Engineers, and Senior Engineers in developing reliable test plans.
  • Manage test chamber schedules and priorities.
  • Program chambers to optimize performance and reduce test time.
  • Set up test units in chambers, including electrical and mechanical connections.
  • Monitor test progress, chamber performance, and automation tools.
  • Troubleshoot and report problems related to test units and chambers.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance activities on equipment.
  • Collaborate with Facilities team for chamber programming and troubleshooting.
  • Manage shipping and receiving of parts for reliability tests.
  • Track and provide lab operation and maintenance cost data for reports.
  • Comfortable working in a lab environment with low to medium voltages.
  • Collaborate closely with Development Engineering, Test Automation Engineers, Production, and Quality Engineers.
  • Engage with industry experts to address electronic issues found during reliability tests.

Requirements:
  • Associate degree or BS in Electronics Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of hands-on environmental test chamber experience testing electrical and mechanical product hardware.
  • Proficiency in Digital, Analog, and Power Electronics circuitry and components.
  • Familiarity with lab instrumentation (Programmable Power Supplies, O-Scopes, DMMs, Logic Analyzers, Thermocouples, Accelerometers, Data Loggers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of "HALT" chambers for Accelerated Step Stress Tests and Environmental Chambers for temperature cycling and humidity tests.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting electronic and mechanical malfunctions.
  • Preferred experience in an R&D environment.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint for generating reports.
  • Self-motivated, well-organized, able to work in a team setting, and productive with minimal supervision.
