Job Summary:
- The Product Development Specialist is responsible for the creation and refinement of new food products. This role ensures that products meet quality, safety, and nutritional standards under the guidance of the Product Development Supervisor. Additionally, the Specialist collaborates with production personnel to facilitate the transition of new products from development to production.
Job Duties:
- Conduct research and development to create new food products, formulating them to meet cost, nutritional, and product claim targets.
- Test prototypes, competitive products, and production samples to ensure quality and feasibility.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product scope, features, and timelines, and drive communication between internal teams and external partners regarding product development.
- Develop and refine processes to scale bench-level work to full industrial production.
- Document ingredients, formulations, processes, and test results to create specifications for in-process and finished goods.
- Participate in sensory evaluations and product trials.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Respond to internal technical questions from production and sales, and troubleshoot production problems when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, nutrition, chemistry, or a related field.
- 0-5 years of related experience in food product development or research.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Knowledge of food technology, production processes, and market trends.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
