Job Description
Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Wood Dale, IL
Hire Type: Contract, 5 Months
Hourly Rate: $40hr - $50hr

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality systems and processes to support product development and manufacturing.
- Conduct first article inspections on new components to ensure supplier compliance with quality requirements.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes using DMAIC methodology.
- Act as a key contributor in new product development (NPD), establishing and tracking quality deliverables throughout the product lifecycle.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, and production teams to drive quality objectives and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary quality resource for frontline supervisors, supporting issue resolution and process improvement efforts.
- Support design and development activities from a quality assurance perspective to ensure products meet both regulatory and customer expectations.
- Design and implement testing protocols, inspection techniques, and process control strategies.
- Promote a culture of quality by developing and maintaining quality documentation, including plans, reports, and standard operating procedures.
- Lead or support internal and external audits, including developing training programs to support compliance and readiness.
- Work closely with suppliers to establish and monitor quality requirements for materials, components, and assemblies.
- Analyze quality data and trends, reporting findings and recommendations to leadership for action and improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or quality engineering role.
- Solid understanding of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., DMAIC, FMEA, SPC, Root Cause Analysis).
- Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality systems.
- Proficiency with quality inspection tools and techniques.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- ASQ certification (CQE, CQA) is a plus.
