Job Description

Title: Quality Engineer 
Location: Wood Dale, IL
Hire Type: Contract, 5 Months
Hourly Rate: $40hr - $50hr

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality systems and processes to support product development and manufacturing.
  • Conduct first article inspections on new components to ensure supplier compliance with quality requirements.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes using DMAIC methodology.
  • Act as a key contributor in new product development (NPD), establishing and tracking quality deliverables throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, and production teams to drive quality objectives and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary quality resource for frontline supervisors, supporting issue resolution and process improvement efforts.
  • Support design and development activities from a quality assurance perspective to ensure products meet both regulatory and customer expectations.
  • Design and implement testing protocols, inspection techniques, and process control strategies.
  • Promote a culture of quality by developing and maintaining quality documentation, including plans, reports, and standard operating procedures.
  • Lead or support internal and external audits, including developing training programs to support compliance and readiness.
  • Work closely with suppliers to establish and monitor quality requirements for materials, components, and assemblies.
  • Analyze quality data and trends, reporting findings and recommendations to leadership for action and improvement.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or quality engineering role.
  • Solid understanding of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., DMAIC, FMEA, SPC, Root Cause Analysis).
  • Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality systems.
  • Proficiency with quality inspection tools and techniques.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • ASQ certification (CQE, CQA) is a plus.
