Job Description

Title: Quality Engineer – DFMEA/PFMEA Specialist

Location: Elmhurst, IL

Overview: The Quality Engineer – DFMEA/PFMEA Specialist is responsible for leading the development and implementation of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) methodologies to ensure product reliability and process robustness. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify potential failure modes in product designs and manufacturing processes, assessing their risks, and implementing corrective actions to mitigate identified issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • DFMEA Development: Lead the creation and maintenance of Design FMEAs to evaluate potential failure modes in product designs, assess their effects, and recommend design modifications to enhance product reliability.
  • PFMEA Development: Develop and update Process FMEAs to analyze manufacturing processes, identify potential process failures, and implement process controls to prevent defects.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate FMEA findings into product and process development.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments based on FMEA results and prioritize issues based on their severity, occurrence, and detectability.
  • Corrective Actions: Facilitate root cause analysis for identified failure modes and oversee the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of FMEA activities, including action plans, timelines, and verification of implemented solutions.
  • Training: Provide training and guidance to team members on FMEA methodologies and best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing defect data and implementing lessons learned into future FMEAs.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering, with a focus on DFMEA and PFMEA processes.
  • Experience with Hazard Analysis is a plus
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in FMEA methodologies and tools.
  • Strong understanding of product design and manufacturing processes.
