Job Summary:
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team in Elk Grove Village, IL. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of products through effective inspection, documentation, and communication practices. This role involves creating and managing quality plans, performing inspections, and collaborating with customers and suppliers to address quality-related issues.
Job Duties:
- Understand and ensure the accuracy and repeatability of inspection equipment used during product verification.
- Interpret customer drawings, parts lists, and BOMs, including expertise in GD&T.
- Create balloon drawings using company-provided (DISCUS) software.
- Create First Article Inspection Reports for all required parts using an AS9102 format and provide them to customers for review and approval.
- Create Designated Inspection Points for final inspections and in-process plans for operator inspections at the machine.
- Compile shipment documentation, approve jobs for closure (for shipment or move to stock), and issue company Certificates of Compliance for all jobs designated for delivery.
- Create and submit Production Part Approval Process plans for all required parts.
- Support final inspection requirements, including visual and dimensional review of products.
- Coordinate and manage customer source inspections with customer source inspectors, customer service representatives, and project engineers.
- Use customer-required documentation formats, including customer internet portals.
- Report on out-of-tolerance conditions, assist with investigation and corrective action activities, and complete Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) reports.
Qualifications:
- Ability to understand and ensure inspection equipment accuracy and repeatability.
- Proficient in interpreting customer drawings, parts lists, and BOMs, with expertise in GD&T.
- Good reporting skills, including support of the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Strong communication skills to address concerns and assist with solving job-related problems, as applicable to quality.
- Ability to organize and prioritize job-related duties.
- Ability to mentor quality technicians and shop personnel by sharing job-related information provided by the customer.
- Experience with creating balloon drawings, First Article Inspection Reports, and using AS9102 format.
- Capable of compiling shipment documentation and managing approval processes for job closures.
- Skilled in coordinating and managing customer source inspections.
- Familiarity with customer-required documentation formats and internet portals.
