Sterling Engineering is looking for a Senior Quality Control Inspector in Houston, TX for a leading manufacturer and supplier of hose fittings. This is a great opportunity to work with a client that has great benefits and has great opportunities for growth for this individual.
Job Duties:
- Perform inspections of metal components using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM)
- Maintain quality control instruments and calibration database
- Develop and implement quality control procedures for machining operations
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions using 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and FMEA
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective actions
- Present non-conformance and corrective action updates to the Operations Team
- Collaborate with production teams, engineering, and suppliers to ensure quality standards
- Train and mentor production staff on measurement techniques and quality standards
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology or related field preferred
- Experience: 8-10+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or machining environment
- Proficiency with measuring equipment (Optical Comparator, micrometers, comparators, hardness testers, etc.)
- Strong understanding of precision machining operations and inspection instruments
- Strong problem-solving skills using root cause analysis techniques
- Experience with ERP systems, Excel, and office software
- Six Sigma/Black Belt knowledge preferred
- ISO 9001 knowledge is a plus
