Job Summary:
Sterling is seeking a Project Manager to oversee the retrofit and new construction of LNG peaking facilities, CNG facilities, compression stations, and pipeline projects. This role will report to the Program Manager and support project initiation, planning, execution, and closeout. The assigned projects will span multiple locations across Georgia, with both retrofit and new construction efforts.
The position requires on-site presence in Midtown Atlanta (4 days per week) with ad hoc travel to project sites as needed. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing and controlling capital expenditures, leading cross-functional teams, and ensuring project success through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Job Duties:
  • Support various PM activities for retrofitting existing plant facilities and constructing new facilities.
  • Lead efforts in scheduling, risk register updates, and lessons learned documentation.
  • Implement Project Management Office (PMO) strategies and best practices.
  • Track project progress from concept to completion, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget compliance.
  • Define roles, responsibilities, and reporting standards for project teams.
  • Manage contractor relations and oversee procurement processes.
  • Drive project scheduling efforts, including adherence to Asset Development Process (ADP) Stages and Stage Gate Reviews.
  • Conduct Lessons Learned reviews and implement process improvements.
  • Prepare and present project health metrics such as earned value analysis (EVA), financial analysis, and risk assessments.
Qualifications:
Education & Certifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical), Construction Management, or related field OR equivalent work experience.
Preferred:
  • MBA, Project Management Professional (PMP), or Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
Experience:
Required:
  • 5+ years of experience in process facilities (natural gas transmission or related energy field preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience leading project planning and execution.
  • Contractor management experience.
Preferred:
  • Experience managing projects within an existing operating plant.
  • Experience managing compression projects for underground storage applications.
  • Direct personnel supervision experience.
Skills & Knowledge:
Required:
  • Strong engineering and construction knowledge.
  • Understanding of integrity management assessment processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Intermediate level).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under stressful conditions.
  • Expertise in project management tools & methods (e.g., earned value analysis, critical path scheduling).
  • Strong communication skills across all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to influence and persuade in decision-making.
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of natural gas transmission systems, distribution systems, LNG, gas engineering principles, and DOT pipeline safety regulations.
Working Conditions & Requirements:
  • Office-based role with periodic field presence at construction sites.
  • Occasional travel to other company or vendor locations.
