Project Engineer
Job Description
- Responsible for day‐to‐day project engineering activities. May also be involved in the installation, start‐ up and troubleshooting of the equipment at the project site. During the project life cycle the project engineer may be required to generate submittal documents, conduct shop inspections to assess ongoing progress with outside vendors and generate reports
- Prepares detailed project engineering designs for small to medium projects including development of the flow and pressure tables for the process flow diagram, pipe sizing,
instrumentation selection, and pump and control valve sizing and selection. - Ensures that all equipment and services meet applicable codes and standards for design, safety, and quality.
- Additionally, the project engineering shall ensure that all designs meet the client specifications
- Produces (with the help of the CAD dept where necessary) and utilizes all engineering drawings and other engineering deliverables necessary to construct the project including
- P&ID, fabrication, BOM, O&M manual, FAT documents, and vendor drawings
- Develops RFQ, solicits quotations from qualified vendors, evaluates quotations and reports recommendations to the assigned Project Manager or supervisor
- Generates and processes equipment and electrical/controls (in conjunction with the Electrical, Instrument and Controls Engineer) purchase orders and follows‐up on delivery of items.
- Coordinates orders and deliveries with mechanical, electrical, and structural fabrication vendors.
- Responsible for drafting CAR or NCR documents as needed for assigned projects
- Supervises and monitors equipment fabrication including system modules, equipment enclosures, tanks, chemical process vessels, etc.; documents result of equipment inspection and
testing through written reports and photos - Schedules equipment shipping including shipping between vendors and to customer
- Performs field equipment startup, commissioning and prepares all logs/records/reports to document the process and results
- Communicates project status through project reports, meeting minutes, action lists and all other required communications
Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering
- Proficient with the primary responsibilities of the position, and experience with utility boilers, industrial furnaces and related equipment is essential
- Requires 3 to 5 years of project engineering experience with increasing responsibility in executing engineering projects
