About the Opportunity
An engineering organization is seeking a Project Controls Department Manager to lead a team responsible for project scheduling, cost control, estimating, and earned value management across engineering and construction projects. This role oversees project performance, schedule development, cost tracking, and risk mitigation while collaborating with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Job Duties
• Lead and manage a team of schedulers, estimators, and project controls professionals.
• Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
• Establish Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), task sequencing, dependencies, and critical path analysis.
• Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow; identify and address cost variances.
• Integrate schedules across design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Utilize Earned Value Management (EVM) to measure project performance (SPI/CPI).
• Generate schedule performance reports, dashboards, and milestone tracking.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain schedule and budget targets.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to maintain accurate project data.
• Maintain scheduling templates, reporting standards, and project control processes.
• Provide coaching, training, and performance management for project controls staff.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business required.
• 5–10 years of project controls leadership experience within engineering consulting or EPC environments.
• Hands-on experience with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
• Strong knowledge of cost engineering, budgeting, forecasting, and schedule management.
• Experience supporting large capital engineering or construction projects.
• Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) and project performance reporting.
• Professional certifications such as PMP or CCP preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• 5–10 years of project controls leadership experience within engineering consulting or EPC environments.
