Position Overview:
We’re seeking an experienced 1st Shift Production Supervisor to lead and engage a team within a high-volume bakery production environment. This role is responsible for driving daily production performance while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, people-focused, and committed to fostering a positive, productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day bakery production operations, including workflow, scheduling, job assignments, and team rotations to ensure efficient output.
- Manage headcount and labor hours to align with departmental budgets and production targets.
- Train, coach, and develop employees through structured onboarding and ongoing feedback.
- Promote a culture of respect, teamwork, and open communication across the department.
- Monitor product quality and collaborate with Quality Assurance and R&D to ensure customer specifications are met.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, GMPs, SQF, and HACCP standards.
- Review daily production reports for performance metrics such as schedule adherence, throughput, and efficiency.
- Identify and implement process improvements focused on productivity, cost savings, and waste reduction.
- Support workforce safety through active participation in training, corrective action, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage attendance, timekeeping, and performance accountability in partnership with HR and management.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sanitation, Quality, and Maintenance teams to address production challenges.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a bakery or food manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate production teams in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of GMPs, SOPs, HACCP, OSHA, and other food safety and quality programs.
- Familiarity with FDA requirements preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
