Job Title: Production Supervisor
Location: Richmond, IN
Pay Rate: $65K-$80K plus 5% bonus 
Shift/Hours:
  • 3rd shift, with availability required between 7 PM - 7 AM.
  • Standard shifts range from 8 to 12 hours
  • Provides vacation relief for off-shift supervisors on a 2-2-3 schedule.


Job Description:
The Plant Supervisor is responsible for providing direction and supervision to production employees within the framework of standard work rules, union contract provisions, and company policies. This role monitors all stages of the production process to ensure the accurate processing of products and customer order fulfillment through efficient production scheduling. The Plant Supervisor upholds safety, food safety, and quality standards, ensuring that daily production goals are achieved. This role also functions as a mentor and coach, providing ongoing development opportunities to team members.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule, assign work, and provide clear direction to production employees, ensuring smooth production flow and the achievement of daily production goals.
  • Supervise operations on the plant floor, including union workforce management.
  • Maintain production targets while ensuring compliance with GMP and safety standards.
  • Build strong relationships with employees, holding them accountable and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Oversee production activities, such as milk receiving, pasteurization, packaging, and storage, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Monitor equipment efficiency, cleanliness, and timely repair of any malfunctions.
  • Promote and enforce safety regulations, conduct accident investigations, and participate in safety meetings and training.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety and quality regulations, managing policies, procedures, and operational programs.
  • Supervise production scheduling, ensuring the availability of materials for upcoming runs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Work collaboratively with HR and plant management to resolve employee grievances and administer discipline consistently.
  • Communicate actively with employees through shift meetings and other methods.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, timekeeping reviews, and manage employee promotions, transfers, and training.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and uphold good manufacturing practices (GMP).


Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; undergraduate degree preferred.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food or beverage production.
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a production setting.
  • Experience in food production is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work rotating schedules.
  • Relevant certifications or licenses may be required during employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process flow and continuous improvement principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with company computer systems.
  • Excellent supervisory, training, and personnel management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and foster a positive team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Proactive, with the ability to demonstrate initiative and follow through on responsibilities.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
