Shift/Hours: 2nd Shift: 3:15pm - 11:45pm  
Base Salary: $32.50/ hour

About the Opportunity: Sterling Engineering's client, a leading manufacturer of US-made custom thermal components, is looking for a Production Mechanic (Level 3) to join their organization. This is a stable company that has been a leader in their market for over 50 years with a diverse book of business in all industries, setting them up for stability and growth.

Job Duties: 
  • Lead and manage the daily maintenance activities of the production floor, performing changeovers, overhauls, and corrective repairs on production equipment.
  • Continuously analyze, diagnose, and resolve mechanical and operational problems to enhance equipment efficiency and productivity.
  • Organize and balance maintenance workflows, including preventive maintenance checks, to ensure adherence to production schedules and minimize downtime.
  • Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions and root causes of production problems through the utilization of plant maintenance data and databases.
  • Minimize work-in-process delays by maintaining an accurate inventory of spare parts and preparing purchase requisitions for necessary supplies.
  • Motivate, train, and mentor production workers and Level 1/2 Mechanics, fostering a culture of safety and technical development.
  • Ensure the consistent adherence to quality specifications and industry standards by examining and measuring products for conformance.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and quality teams to provide input on new machinery specifications and support the evaluation of the Plant Maintenance Program.
  • Drive and implement predictive maintenance and fabrication of non-commercial repair parts to elevate performance across production lines.
  • Prepare regular reports and records of production delays, downtime, and equipment performance for senior management review.
Qualifications: 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; trade-related schooling in welding, electricity, or PLC is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of automated equipment (fillers, labelers, packers, etc.) in a production environment.
  • Proven proficiency in at least three specialized skills: welding (TIG/MIG/Stick), machine shop, industrial electricity, PLCs, or pipe fitting.
  • Strong understanding of technical documentation, including the ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform major overhauls and troubleshoot complex packaging and process equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines while strictly adhering to GMP, OSHA regulations, and safety standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact cross-functionally with production, quality, and management teams.
