Job Summary:
  • The Plant Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing production and facility equipment in a food processing environment. This role ensures the smooth operation of machinery used for cooking, packaging, and distribution.

Job Duties:
  • Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance tasks efficiently.
  • Respond to unplanned equipment downtime and urgent repair requests.
  • Arrive prepared with essential tools and equipment when addressing maintenance issues.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and support systems, including HVAC, boilers, air compressors, refrigeration, mixers, processing, and packaging equipment.
  • Utilize both electrical and mechanical skills to troubleshoot and maintain plant machinery.
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment such as pumps, motors, conveyors, fans, blowers, and wastewater systems.
  • Coordinate with external equipment and service providers when necessary.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare parts and order necessary replacements.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with GMPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for equipment and operational improvements.
  • Operate various hand tools and maintenance equipment effectively.
  • Maintain logs and records of maintenance activities.
  • Observe machinery in operation to detect potential malfunctions.
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble mechanical equipment as needed.
  • Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED, with at least four years of experience in industrial maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with all levels of personnel.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, AC/servo drives, HMIs, and PLCs.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, instructions, machine manuals, and reports.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
