Plant Engineer
Job Description
- Communication: Effectively communicates all issues or problems within the department to the Plant Manager or their designated representative.
- Safety Compliance: Ensures that the plant operates in accordance with all health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations. Actively participates in HSE training, drills, and Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings.
- Production Oversight: Directs operators to achieve optimal product quality and quantity while maximizing personnel and equipment utilization.
- Technical Assistance: Provides technical support and guidance to address off-standard conditions and emergencies.
- Equipment Operation: Provides direction to operators on the operation and control of all plant equipment.
- Process Monitoring: Monitors and controls production processes, identifying and correcting deviations from standards.
- Team Building: Fosters a collaborative and teamwork-oriented environment.
- Continuous Improvement: Implements continuous improvement techniques to enhance safety, quality, and production performance. Proposes strategies to optimize raw material ordering processes and minimize inventory.
- Responsible Care: Demonstrates leadership and commitment to Responsible Care® principles in health, safety, and environmental matters.
- Maintenance Coordination: Works closely with the maintenance coordinator to direct maintenance efforts.
- Capital Projects: Proposes and assists in the implementation of capital projects to reduce costs and maintain business operations.
- Data Analysis: Enters and analyzes production data daily to ensure optimal process output and efficiency.
- Inventory Management: Assists in inventory monitoring, supply ordering, and periodic inventory reviews.
- Audits: Supports regulatory and external audits as needed.
- Standard Operating Procedures: Updates and creates standard operating procedures to maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation.
- Special Projects: Completes special projects and other tasks as assigned.
- Training: Possesses the ability to be trained and train others in various disciplines related to production operations and management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum: BS Degree in an appropriate technical discipline.
- Desired: BS Degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of two to five (2-5) years of experience in the chemical industry in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a Union environment.
- CQI techniques and methods, such as SPC and Six Sigma.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety principles.
- Working knowledge of management systems, such as ISO 9001 and RC 14001
- Working knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance.
- Computer skills, such as Microsoft Office and SAP.
