Piping Designer
Job Description
Location: Hammond, IN
Core Responsibilities
• Perform design and drafting assignments including layout of complex vessels, piping,
foundations using application of AutoCAD drawing techniques per project requirement in
accordance with scope, schedule, and budget, as assigned by Engineering lead.
• Perform field visits when necessary. Familiarity of P&IDS needed.
• Initiate 3D model design and participate in all review meetings.
• Provide design computations, isometrics, plans, sketches, and bill of material when applicable.
• Provide information for inter-discipline coordination.
• Review design drawings for quality and accuracy.
• Participate in project meetings.
• Develop and maintain department’s standard details, procedures, and notes.
• Develop and maintain project drawing list.
Qualifications- Skills needed
• High School Diploma, or Associate’s Degree
• 5 -7 years of experience working in piping design and plant layout in an industrial environment.
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Strong knowledge of 3D AutoCAD software, Cloud Scanning Software and Solidworks
• Ability to translate field and design sketches into detailed finished construction documents.
• Knowledge of multi-discipline project design execution and construction methods.
• Knowledge of industry codes as it applies to assigned projects.
• Must be well organized and able to prioritize work.
• Ability to effectively communicate with project team.
• Ability to juggle more than one project at a time and set priorities.
