Salary: Party Chief: $50,710-$76,070/YR | Senior Party Chief: $66,250-$99,370/YR

Sterling Engineering is looking for a Party Chief / Senior Party Chief to join a growing engineering consulting firm supporting land surveying and infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced survey professional who enjoys leading field crews, working outdoors, and supporting large-scale construction and surveying projects.

Job Summary:
The Party Chief / Senior Party Chief is responsible for leading field survey crews, overseeing daily survey operations, collecting and processing field data, and ensuring projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. This role also serves as the primary point of communication between field crews, project managers, and clients while maintaining high-quality survey standards.

Job Duties:
  • Lead and manage daily field survey crew operations.
  • Coordinate field activities, scheduling, site logistics, and crew assignments.
  • Conduct daily tailgate safety meetings before each shift.
  • Collect, download, review, edit, and process survey data.
  • Perform COGO calculations and survey data computations.
  • Communicate field conditions, project updates, and site issues with office staff and project managers.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal project teams.
  • Review survey deliverables to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Assist with hiring, training, and mentoring survey personnel.
  • Maintain survey equipment and ensure compliance with company safety standards.
  • Support construction layout, boundary, topographic, and infrastructure survey projects.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying or related field preferred.
  • 5-7 years of field surveying experience with an Associate's degree or ability to obtain CST Level II certification, or LSIT certification with 2-5 years of field survey experience.
  • Experience leading and managing field survey crews.
  • Strong understanding of COGO computations and field data collection.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, LDD, and survey data processing software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe products.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Additional Information:
  • 100% field-based role with travel required.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively and work overtime or weekends as project demands require.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain while lifting up to 50 pounds of survey equipment.
