Job Summary: 
We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Specialist for a part-time position in Buffalo, New York who will assist our client (a scientific instruments manufacturer) to ensure the company's health and safety processes and procedures are in compliance.  This is a part-time role, so this individual will be needed for 1 or 2 days per week for the next 3 to 6 months.

Job Duties:
  • Support management/supervision to ensure all site associates understand and comply with all applicable regulatory, plant and corporate EHS and related policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that all EHS reporting is completed timely and accurately.
  • Maintains safety systems, policies, and procedures for the site.
  • Inspects facilities, machinery, equipment, and personnel practices to identify potential safety and health concerns and hazards.
  • Conducts accident investigation and provides recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Acts as Company representative in dealing with government agencies on safety, health and environmental matters affecting the site.
  • Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.
  • Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
  • Compiles and submits required safety, health, and environmental reports to corporate and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with managing contractor EHS compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or scientific field preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on EH&S experience, ideally involving chemical handling.
  • Proficient computer skills (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Ability to deliver training materials utilizing various types of media.
  • CSP or CIH certification is ideal, or OSHA 30-hour certified.
