Job Description

Overview 
The Industrial Painter is responsible for applying paint and other finishes to machinery and industrial equipment. The role involves preparing metal surfaces, mixing paints, applying coatings using various methods, and ensuring a high-quality finish that meets industry standards. The Industrial Painter will work exclusively with metal materials and must follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Surface Preparation:
    • Clean, sand, and prime metal surfaces to prepare machinery for painting.
    • Remove rust, grease, and other contaminants from surfaces using tools such as sandblasters, wire brushes, and chemical solvents.
    • Mask and protect areas that should not be painted.
  • Paint Application:
    • Mix paints and other coatings to achieve the desired color, consistency, and texture.
    • Apply paint or other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray guns.
    • Apply multiple coats of paint as necessary, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next.
    • Inspect finished products to ensure a high-quality and uniform finish.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    • Clean and maintain painting equipment, including brushes, spray guns, and mixing tools.
    • Perform routine maintenance on paint booths, ventilation systems, and other equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Quality Control:
    • Inspect painted machinery for defects and touch up any imperfections.
    • Ensure that all finished products meet quality standards and specifications.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as an industrial painter, preferably in a manufacturing or machinery setting.
  • Knowledge of different types of paints, coatings, and surface preparation techniques for metal.
  • Proficiency in using painting equipment, such as spray guns, brushes, and rollers.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and regulations related to industrial painting.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment (up to 60lb).
  • Ability to wear and use protective gear, such as respirators and safety goggles.
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to paint fumes, solvents, and other chemicals.
  • May require overtime or shift work depending on production needs
