Title: 2nd shift PLC Technician
Location: Hazleton, PA
Shift & Hours: 2nd Shift Hours - 2pm to 10pm. Monday through Friday.
Pay Rate: $36-$38p/hour
- $5,000 sign on bonus.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated PLC Technician to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all manufacturing equipment including wrappers, mixers, motors, conveyors, and refrigeration systems. You will ensure the efficient operation of all machinery while performing both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment including wrappers, mixers, motors, conveyors, and refrigeration systems.
- Install and maintain control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
- Connect power cables to equipment (e.g., electric ranges, motors), and install grounding leads.
- Monitor equipment and ensure it is in excellent operational condition.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment.
- Dismantle defective machinery, install new or repaired parts, and clean and lubricate machinery parts.
- Install, modify, and maintain pipe systems, hydraulic/pneumatic equipment, and related components (gauges, valves, SOVs, pressure regulators).
- Maintain and repair the physical structure of the facility.
- Install, program, or repair automated machinery, including robots and PLCs.
- Maintain accurate documentation for all electrical and control systems, including device hardware and software.
- Assist mechanics in troubleshooting and repairing electrical or control failures.
- Train and coordinate activities of mechanics across all shifts as necessary.
- Travel occasionally for offsite troubleshooting and repairs.
- Maintain production equipment while keeping the production schedule on track.
- Perform electrical and mechanical inspections safely while equipment is in production.
- Coordinate work during equipment downtime for corrective, preventive, or scheduled repairs.
- Oversee the mechanical technician during equipment breakdowns to ensure rapid repair and return to production.
- Comply with all safety regulations, GMP, quality control, and company procedures.
- Maintain plant secondary systems for steam, water, air, power, refrigeration, HVAC, and emissions control.
- Keep accurate work records in the job assignment system.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including purchasing parts, attending training, or assisting with tasks in other locations.
- Ensure that the quality, legality, and safety of the product and manufacturing processes are maintained.
- Keep the work area clean and report any potential contamination or suspicious activity immediately to a supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree or certificate in electrical, mechanical, or industrial automation engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience maintaining manufacturing systems and equipment in an automated plant.
- Strong background in full machine and electrical control system design, installation, and commissioning.
- Rockwell PLC and Drives certification highly desirable.
- Proficient in RS Logix and Factory Talk View programming.
- Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems is a plus.
- Food plant experience is preferred.
- Strong mechanical background in troubleshooting and repairing gearboxes, conveyors, sprockets/chains, belts, clutches, and brakes.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems up to 480v 3-phase, and interpret electrical drawings and P&IDs.
- Familiarity with using power tools, hand tools, welders, lathes, and drill presses.
- Ability to work any shift, including weekends and holidays.
