Title: PLC Programing Technician 
Location:  West Chicago, IL
Shift & Hours:  1st Shift 5:30am- 3:30pm                         
Pay Rate: $80K-$90K

Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced PLC Programming Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting machines that use PLCs to automate processes. Additionally, you will troubleshoot and resolve electrical and mechanical issues while performing routine and basic equipment maintenance to ensure smooth operations. This position may require working in excess of 40 hours per week based on department needs.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Programming: Design, create, and optimize PLC programs to control and monitor machines, ensuring efficient and safe production processes.
  • Maintenance: Troubleshoot and repair issues with PLC-driven systems and ensure all equipment functions properly.
  • Design: Reprogram existing machines to improve operations and enhance efficiency.
  • Support: Provide continuous support for PLC systems in various operational environments.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring all work is conducted safely and in compliance with safety protocols.
  • Complete work assignments in a timely and efficient manner with minimal supervision.
  • Evaluate machinery performance, identify areas for improvement, and propose solutions to enhance machine efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Focus on process improvements and machine optimization.
Qualifications:
  • Experience and Education:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with electrical, hydraulic, mechanical systems, and PLC programming is required.
    • Experience in manufacturing, particularly in the food or pharmaceutical industries, is preferred.
    • Knowledge and experience in machine elements, instrumentation, hydraulics/pneumatics, shop safety, and work instruction comprehension are desired.
    • Must have expert-level knowledge of PLC programming, troubleshooting, and optimization.
    • Previous experience with:
      • Performing routine preventative maintenance.
      • Installing, verifying, and validating new equipment.
      • Machine tear-down and rebuilds.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge.
    • Knowledge of GMP and safety regulations.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
    • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
    • Ability to pass a skills assessment, physical, and functional job screening.

Work Environment:
This role operates within a manufacturing environment.
Food Safety and Quality Responsibilities:
  • Follow all applicable procedures and work instructions.
  • Participate in food safety audits and ensure compliance with relevant food safety regulations.
  • Serve as a backup for redundant systems and processes as needed.
