PCB Design Engineer
Job Description
Location: St. Charles, IL 60174
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Salary Range: $90,000–$110,000
- Design and develop PCB layouts using Altium (or similar software such as OrCAD, Protel, or Mentor Graphics).
- Release and maintain CAD drawing packages.
- Work directly with supplier technical teams to review and refine PCB designs.
- Participate in design and tooling reviews.
- Coordinate design requirements with production, quality, and supply chain teams.
- Maintain and update process documentation, work instructions, and component libraries.
- Convert Altium libraries to database files and categorize components for efficient use.
- Review component datasheets and update design files with accurate technical values.
- Support ISO9001/IATF16949 quality processes and ISO14001 environmental policies.
- Provide clear communication and timely reporting of key project updates.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Associate’s Degree in Electronics with 10+ years of progressive PCB layout design experience.
- Minimum 7 years of PCB design experience with proven hands-on expertise.
- Proficiency with Altium; familiarity with other design tools a plus.
- Experience in high-volume production environments (preferably automotive electronics).
- Strong understanding of DFM/DFT principles and PCB fabrication.
- Knowledge of EMC design practices.
- IPC certification is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and urgency.
- Solid understanding of trigonometry and electrical fundamentals.
