Title: CNC Lathe Set Up Operator
Location: Wood Dale, IL
Hire Type: Direct Hire
Shift: $27-$32/hr. 
Must have Skill Set: CNC Lathe Setup, Blueprint Reading, Precision Measurement Tools (Micrometers/Calipers).

This role is situated within a growing, high-precision manufacturing environment in Wood Dale. The CNC Lathe Setup Operator is a critical technical position responsible for the end-to-end preparation and execution of machining projects.

Job Duties: 
  • Perform full setups on CNC lathes, including the installation and adjustment of tooling, fixturing, and workholding components.
  • Load raw materials and verify precise part alignment prior to machining cycles.
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and job travelers to determine sequence of operations.
  • Conduct rigorous in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other high-precision measurement tools.
  • Adjust machine offsets and program parameters to maintain part accuracy and consistency throughout production runs.
  • Monitor equipment performance in real-time to detect, diagnose, and correct mechanical or quality issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of machine setups and update run logs as required.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and uphold all shop safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to track and meet daily production goals.
Qualifications: 
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional technical or vocational training is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience specifically setting up and operating CNC lathes.
  • Advanced blueprint reading skills and a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Proven familiarity with a variety of materials, including various metals and plastics.
  • Proficiency in the use of precision inspection tools to ensure tight tolerances.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and troubleshoot mechanical or setup-related issues on the fly.
  • Solid understanding of industry-standard safety and quality control practices.
