Position: Operational Excellence Engineer
Location:  Waukegan, IL  60085
Duration:  12+ months
 
The Operational Excellence Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing organization. This role will leverage Lean principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and data analysis to identify and eliminate waste, improve efficiency, and enhance overall productivity.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement in manufacturing processes using Lean principles (5S, Kanban, etc.) and Six Sigma methodologies. 
  • Develop and implement data-driven solutions to address process issues
  • Analyze data to identify root causes of problems and areas for improvement
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop and implement standard work procedures to ensure consistency and quality
  • Facilitate training on new processes and procedures for production personnel
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to optimize equipment performance
  • Track and measure the impact of improvement initiatives to ensure effectiveness
  • Utilize shadow boards to visually represent the work process and standard tools
  • Apply Lean principles to continuously improve the efficiency of the work process
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or industrial engineering (preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles (5S, Kanban, etc.) and Six Sigma methodologies 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
