Title: Network Engineer
Location: Houston, TX

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain and administer core networking infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, routers, wireless controllers, and access points.
- Manage and support wide area and local area networks (WAN/LAN) to ensure proper functionality and configuration.
- Maintain and administer VoIP phone systems and related network services.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors and partners regarding network-related products, services, and issues.
- Perform periodic network inventory reviews and configuration audits.
- Lead IT projects from planning through completion.
- Schedule and coordinate network hardware maintenance windows with support personnel.
- Provide remote support and participate in an on-call rotation as required.
- Develop, maintain, and implement processes, policies, and procedures related to network services and equipment.
- Research, test, and evaluate new and emerging network technologies; provide recommendations to the Operations Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Skills, Qualifications & Abilities
Education / Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering required.
- An additional four (4) years of highly relevant full-time experience (14 years total) may be considered in lieu of a four-year degree.
Experience
- Minimum of ten (10) years of full-time, relevant experience in network design and support, including LAN, WAN, and wireless environments.
- Required experience includes:
- Design and support of VoIP systems and/or QoS/CoS
- Network protocols (BGP, MPLS, VPN, OSPF, TCP/IP, STP)
- Authentication and authorization technologies (802.1x, NAC, Aruba ClearPass, Cisco ISE, or equivalent) and ACLs
- VPN technologies (site-to-site, IPsec, always-on VPN clients)
- Hands-on experience with switches, routers, and firewalls
- Working with service provider–supported environments
- Strong technical documentation skills
- Professional communication with internal departments and stakeholders
Preferred / Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in a highly regulated industry
- Familiarity with Fortinet, Aruba OS, and Aruba OS-CX
- Relevant certifications (Cisco, Aruba, or similar)
