Job Description
Title: Mechatronics Technician
Location: Bartlett, IL
Hire Type: CONTRACT-TO-HIRE or Direct Hire - $28-$37 per hour depending on experience
Overview: Sterling is seeking a Mechatronics Technician to work on large custom automation projects from proof of principle to installation. This role will work closely with multiple project teams to support engineering, build, and commissioning phases. The Technician will also directly interface with the Project Manager and all project leads. Responsibilities:
- Understand design layouts, schematics, and bills of materials for producing custom machinery
- Perform system commissioning and debug of custom automation equipment
- Audit engineering work for accuracy and completeness
- Problem-solve design issues and update all appropriate documentation
- Diagnose cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction of operational equipment and perform preventative and corrective maintenance
- Install and service machines at customer’s site as required
- Provide necessary documentation and support for machinery Operating Manuals
- Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts
- Follow all policy and procedures to maintain ISO13485 Certification requirements
Qualifications:
- A.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience
- 2 years' experience minimum
- Fluent in the use of 3D CAD (SolidWorks); working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD is a plus
- Good computer skills (spreadsheet and word processing)
- Strong mechanical aptitude
Physical Demands:
- Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor
- Exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently
- Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens
- Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions
- The employee is subject to a normal office environment with occasional exposure to high noise levels and/or physical hazards when visiting manufacturing floor
