Hire Type:  Direct hire - $120-$170k per year plus Bonus

 

Job Summary

OBJECTIVE: Provide leadership and direct supervision of permanent Mechanical Engineering Team members. Drives performance of the team to achieve team, project and division goals. Provide project supervision for temporary team members and contractors. Provide administrative duties for assigned software team.

Job Duties:

· Drive team performance to achieve goals and KPIs.

· Set and maintain team goals in keeping with company objectives.

· Serve Project Manager’s requests for resources, escalations, and estimates.

· Create parallel capacity relationships for overflow through a minimum of 2 sources for design, detailing, and T&M arrangements via contractors.

· Direct supervision of Team members:

o Conduct annual reviews for direct reports in keeping with company policies.

o Track individual KPI’s and metrics based on data.

o Establish and maintain training matrices for each employee.

o Provide direct employee development and discipline as needed.

· Assign work and provide technical direction to team members.

· Interview and select, in collaboration with the Operations Manager, new team members.

· Innovate and use good judgment to incorporate IDI standards and regulatory requirements.

· Participate in internal and customer design reviews, installations, and service calls when needed.

· Work within the confines of the project schedule and budget.

· Problem-solve with Project Team and Engineering Teams, debug machine issues, and update all appropriate documentation.

· Communicate ideas and comprehend information both verbally and in written form.

· The Mechanical Engineering Manager may from time to time be required to be a working manager and as such, be an active member of the team, providing engineering content to the project.

· Communicate progress and status through daily visual management.

· Participate in project team meetings.

· Participate in the Project Execution Plan meetings as required.

· Participate in department and project Lessons Learned meetings.

· Full compliance to the terms and conditions within the employee signed work from home policy.


HEALTH, SAFETY, & ENVIRONMENTAL:


· Create and then work in compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental Procedures.

· Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through Lockout-Tagout methods.

· Actively pursue a duty to act where any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts are witnessed.

· Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts to the president.

· Escalate any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts which leaders do not address to the president

· Report any defect in any equipment or protective device.

· Ensure that the required personal protective equipment (PPE) is used for the assigned task.

· Complete all required Health, Safety, and Environmental training and maintain records for audits.

· Assist in investigating any accidents/incidents or near misses if requested.

· Refrain from engaging in any unruly conduct.

· Ensure that equipment, materials and protective devices are functioning in a safe manner

· Ensure that employees are working in accordance with divisional health and safety procedures

· Do not report to work-onsite, at a customer’s site, or travel on behalf of when feeling ill. Contact your leader immediately.

· Conform to all pandemic requirements identified by regulating authorities and leadership during pandemic situations


· Applies progressive discipline as appropriate for health, safety and/or environmental violations

· Advise employees of the existence of any potential or actual health and safety risks

· Provide appropriate instruction for safe work

· Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employees

· Conduct periodic inspections and audits in accordance with legislative and/or corporate requirements

· Conduct accident/incident investigations, prepare necessary reports and communicate to line management, health and safety personnel and health and safety committee

· Ensure that all employees, including temporary workers and contractors, adhere to safety requirements including the use of personal protective equipment

· Support activities and initiatives outlined by the Joint Health and Safety Committee

Qualifications:

Education:

· B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.


Experience:

· Ten (10) years’ minimum experience in automatic assembly controls design.

· Knowledge of computer programs such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Windows, Excel, and MS Outlook.

· Knowledge of engineering processes.

· Significant experience with integration and debug of complex automation systems.


Skills Required:

· Proficient user of computer programs such as Windows, Excel, and MS Outlook.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· The employee may be required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.

· Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.

· Visual Acuity – Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens

· Hearing Ability – Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions.

· Working Conditions – The employee is subject to a normal office environment with occasional exposure to high noise levels and/or physical hazards when visiting manufacturing floor.

· Capable of wearing appropriate related PPE for extended periods of time
