Sterling Engineering is looking for an Mechanical Engineer in Kenosha, WI. The focus of this role is to design/improve new and existing products and components, fabricate and test prototypes, ensure product integrity, technical accuracy and applicability, and release final product for manufacture and distribution.
 
Job Duties:
  • Gather and analyze research data and proposed product specifications.  Determine feasibility of product proposal/specifications.  Consult with research personnel, sales, and principal engineer to clarify or resolve issues and develop design.
  • Plan, design, and develop products or components in projects assigned.  Prepare or direct preparation of the project/system layout, detailed drawings and schematics.  Plan and develop experimental test products.  Direct and coordinate manufacturing or building of prototype product or system by Model Shop employees.  Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.

  • Create product documentation including manuals, architectural surveys, and layout drawings to support new products.  Update product manuals, as necessary, to stay current with product and component changes.
  • Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.
  • Manages projects, changes and/or development from start through completion while communicating, supporting, and interacting with other functional groups.

 
Qualifications:

  1. Requires education generally equivalent to an bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, engineering technology or a related field.
  2. Requires five to seven years in product design engineering duties.
  3. Requires knowledge of and ability to manipulate computer assisted drafting software.
