Hire Type: Direct Hire - $75-$100k per year
Job Summary:
- As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Machine Design, you would work in our Downers Grove, Illinois office and your primary responsibilities would include:
- Lead mechanical projects and manage a team throughout the project
- Apply sound engineering and machine design principles to design custom engineered equipment
- Create/modify/update mechanical drawings and BOM’s
- Analyze existing designs and provide recommendations for improvements
- Mentor other engineers and designers on best practices for machine design
- Perform independent site inspections and supervise equipment installation
- Participate in brainstorming and design reviews
- Deliver projects on time and within budget
- Work with shop assembly personnel in troubleshooting & debugging of equipment
- Assist in the checking of drawings and analyze tolerance stack ups
- Assist in developing engineering and drafting standards
- Issue and complete ECO’s
- Requirements
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years’ experience designing custom industrial equipment
- Driven and ambitious personality with attention to detail
- Creative, innovative and forward-thinking approach to engineering design
- Excellent problem solving skills in a team-oriented environment
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding and general fabrication
- Excellent computer skills, including 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor preferred), AutoCAD 2D, Office
- Strong FEA background
- Knowledge and experience with GD&T and ASME Dimensioning and Tolerancing Standards
- Professional Engineer License is a plus
- Machining/fabrication background is a plus
- Field experience, customer site audits and experience supervising installations is a plus
- 15% availability for travel, including some weekends and international opportunities
