Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Henrico, VA
Compensation: Up to $120,000 annually

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Henrico, VA. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams—sales, project management, procurement, production, and quality assurance—while also engaging directly with customers to deliver innovative and reliable product designs.
You’ll play a critical role in driving design excellence, with a strong focus on sheet metal design and manufacturability.

What You’ll Do
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements for new and existing products.
  • Lead design efforts from concept through completion, ensuring alignment with client needs and engineering standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support development of design processes and standards.
  • Develop detailed 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks or AutoCAD Inventor, emphasizing sheet metal applications.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and client specifications.
  • Create prototypes, test designs, and analyze performance results.
  • Provide support during production to confirm design intent is met and troubleshoot issues.
  • Deliver polished presentations to clients and executive stakeholders.
  • Manage change control throughout project execution.
  • Occasional travel and flexibility outside normal business hours may be required.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
  • 2+ years of engineering experience, ideally in sheet metal design.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD Inventor, Vault, and MS Office tools.
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of UL standards (UL 891, UL 1558, UL 67, UL 857, UL 1008, UL 62368/60950) and electrical power distribution system design.
  • Professional presence with the ability to interact confidently with clients and executives.
