Mechanical Engineer - High Speed Automation 
Location: Webster, NY
Pay rate: $90K - $110K DOE

Must have 3-5 years of high-speed automation and design of parts & process experience

Responsibilities:
  • Design, test, and validate mechanical solutions to address chronic issues and enhance equipment reliability.
  • Lead technical support requests and troubleshooting activities for filler, blow mold, and other packaging-related issues to determine root causes.
  • Develop proposed solutions and process improvements focusing on quality, safety, productivity, and cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate downtime repairs and equipment modifications with operations leaders, maintenance, and stakeholders to optimize resource utilization.
  • Collaborate closely with OEM technicians and leverage all available resources to minimize downtime.
  • Demonstrate leadership through effective knowledge transfer and technical training of mechanics and operators.
  • Participate actively in plant safety, health, and environmental programs.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to establish engineering acceptance standards and specifications for new and modified equipment.
  • Validate and characterize new processes, equipment, and fixtures for production implementation with a focus on defect elimination.
  • Create detailed manufacturing instructions, including SOPs, for maintenance and operations rebuilds, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, and Maintenance Managers to reduce and eliminate downtime using strategic project management and operational insights.
  • Perform BDA (Breakdown Analysis) and RCA (Root Cause Analysis) for recurring breakdowns and process failures.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing best practices within a culture focused on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to understand and edit engineering drawings, operating manuals, and P&IDs using AutoCAD.
  • Regular use of a variety of machines and tools is essential.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering discipline.
  • Experience in high-speed bottling and filling operations.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming, controls, and data analytics.
  • Strong mathematical and reasoning abilities.
  • SolidWorks is required.
  • Six Sigma Lean and/or TPM experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of process technology, including aseptic and hygienic manufacturing, is a plus.
  • Understanding of utilities such as HP air compressors, boilers, HVAC, and other support equipment is advantageous.
