Title: Piping Designer 
Location: Portland, ME

Responsibilities
• Read, interpret & apply engineering terminology & symbols.
• Hold practiced knowledge of industry standard design software (AutoCAD family of products).
• Perform complex calculations & use standard tables to determine dimensions, scale, linear & angular
measurements.
• Produce complex 3D designs of facilities, pipelines, foundations & other required elements of energy
infrastructure systems.
• Create &/or modify CAD material specifications for use in 3D design deliverables as applicable to project
requirements.
• Prepare complex & difficult electrical, mechanical, or civil working plans, detail drawings, schematics, dimensional
representations & as-built records; develop & arrange layouts (e.g. PFDs, P&IDs, scaled equipment layouts, and
equipment details).
• Strive continually to complete all assigned tasks &/or projects on time & within allocated budget.
• Exercise discretion & judgment & apply design principles to meet project challenges.
• Work alongside the Engineering team to design complex drawings, such as P&ID, construction documents,
routine design layouts, detailed drawings, equipment skid and piping
• Prepare and work with bills of material (BOMs) and other construction documents.
• Develop equipment/material schedules and material takeoffs, from drawings or sketches. Support preparation of
requests for bids for subcontractors and material vendors, as directed.
• Attend & contribute within design review meetings as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Designers, the Engineering &/or Project Management team.

Work Environment
• Duties are largely performed in an office.
• Office work may include prolonged seated tasks, extended keyboarding, and use of computer screen.
• May be requested to work overtime and weekends.
• Position requires travel
 (expected to be less than 20%); valid driver’s license and acceptable DMV record
required.
