Job Description
Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Elgin, IL
Overview: Sterling, a Best of Staffing company, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer II - Custom for a direct hire opportunity paying $90-100k/year plus bonus. This role is responsible for advanced machine design while adhering to customer specifications, cost, and quality requirements.
Job Duties:
- Develop and execute machine designs based on customer specifications and internal standards
- Produce 3D solid models and perform tolerance analysis
- Adhere to company standards and procedures and make suggestions for workflow improvements
- Estimate time to complete assignments and inform Design Manager of any delays
- Possess a B.S. degree in Mechanical Design Engineering or similar field, and 3-5+ years of machine design experience
- Have knowledge of manufacturing processes and exposure to LEAN and 6 Sigma concepts
Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of regulatory and agency standards
- Proficiency in MS Office, 3D Solid Modeling CAD, and PDM software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience working in a team environment
- Limited travel up to 5% may be required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for more than 50% of the time and occasionally move about the office and manufacturing floor
- Constant operation of a computer and other office equipment
- Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D solid models.
